Traffic pattern changes are coming to Comox Road as part of the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project.

Beginning Monday, May 12th, the one-way section of Comox Road will move to Comox Hill.

One-way traffic for Comox Hill, as well as sections of Comox Road, is estimated to last until September 2025.

The change is for the construction of the new sewer forcemain pipe.

From May 12th to June 3rd, traffic will be one-way 24 hrs/day, seven days a week, moving west from the town towards Courtenay.

After June 3rd traffic will be one-way from 6am to 8pm daily, closed overnights from 8pm to 6am, and re-opened to one-way traffic on weekends.

Additionally, two-way bike and pedestrian traffic will be possible through the construction zone 24 hrs/day, seven days a week starting on May 12th, with more time changes happening in June.

The section of Comox Road which is currently closed will re-open to traffic mid-morning on May 12th.

Vehicle traffic crossing the 17th Street Bridge will again be able to turn right onto Comox Road.

Two way-traffic will be possible, but only up to the construction zone.

A U-turn route has also been identified for traffic to turn around safely.

All vehicle traffic bound for the Town of Comox will continue to be detoured onto the official detour route, up Ryan Road and onto Lerwick Road.

Traffic light timing is being monitored throughout construction to ensure that traffic continues to flow.
