Campbell River Council has awarded the Nunns Creek Park Enhancements construction contract following a competitive tender process that received three bids.
The project, awarded to Upland Contracting Ltd., based in Campbell River, will transform Nunns Creek Park into Campbell River’s primary slo-pitch facility, featuring four tournament-capable fields, two soccer fields, improved accessibility, expanded parking, enhanced event space, and areas for food trucks and kiosks.
The redevelopment supports Council’s priorities for community livability while creating opportunities to attract tournaments and visitors to the community.
Council also approved additional project funding to allow the redevelopment to proceed despite increased construction costs resulting from market conditions.
The total project budget was increased to approximately $8.57 million and will remain largely funded through external grants, including approximately $6.4 million from the Growing Communities Fund and $1.635 million from the Build Communities Strong Fund.
Construction is expected to begin this year and will provide long-term recreational benefits for residents, community sports organizations, and visitors to Campbell River.
