Nominations are now open for the 3rd annual Haig-Brown Environmental Stewardship Awards, recognizing people and organizations making a difference for the environment in the Campbell River region.

The awards are presented through a partnership involving the Museum at Campbell River, Greenways Land Trust, and the Guardian programs of We Wai Kai and Wei Wai Kum First Nations.

The public can submit nominations until August 29th in 7 categories, including habitat protection, water and energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling, urban agriculture, alternative transportation, youth recognition, and environmental excellence.

Individuals, youth, community groups, businesses, and industry are all eligible.

This year's awards cover a broad area from Oyster River to Chatham Point, including Campbell River and the Discovery Islands.

Winners will be honoured September 12th at the historic Haig-Brown House as part of the annual Haig-Brown Festival, which features live music, nature and history programs, and local food vendors.

Nomination Deadline is Saturday, August 29th, 2026.
