Nominations are now open for the Town of Comox 2023 Youth Recognition Awards.

As part of Youth Week celebrations, May 1-7, the Comox Community Centre will host its 2nd annual youth recognition dinner (May 5), including a special presentation honouring the 2023 award recipients.

Mayor Nicole Minions says there is a community of young people actively making positive contributions in Comox through volunteerism, recreation, arts, science, and civic engagement.

She says, “Youth deserve to be recognized for their efforts and achievements to make Comox a better place."

Recreation Programmer Laura Weston says the success and momentum of last year’s event drives their enthusiasm to recognize even more youth for their motivation and hard work.

She says the awards are about highlighting Comox youth following their passions, overcoming personal challenges, and impacting the community in meaningful ways.

You can nominate an outstanding young person, aged 12 to 24 years, who you believe deserves to be recognized for their contributions, at Town of Comox, or forms can be picked up at the Comox Community Centre. The deadline for submission is April 14, 2023.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
