A small plane crashed in Comox on Canada Day.
Thankfully there were no injuries.
The two-seater reportedly ran out of fuel near the Courtenay Air Strip and landed in an estuary of the Courtenay River.
After refueling, while attempting to take off on the dry river bed, the plane flipped.
The pilot, the only person onboard at the time of the crash, managed to get out safely.
Photos and video shared on social media show a group of people helping lift and carry the plane off the shoreline.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it’s aware of the crash but is unlikely to launch a full investigation.
“Early indications from our regional team are that this occurrence will be classified as a Class 5 occurrence,” said the TSB in a statement Wednesday.
