North Island Employment Foundations Society has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Ambassador Award by the Multicultural and Immigrant Services Association.

Each year, MISA recognizes individuals or organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming communities.
NIEFS has been chosen for their ongoing work in supporting newcomers to Canada.

"This award is a true honour," said Shannon Baikie, NIEFS' executive director.

"At NIEFS, we believe that when newcomers are empowered with the right tools, resources, and community connections, everyone benefits. This recognition affirms our commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities."

Over the past year, NIEFS has led several initiatives designed to support newcomers in their transition to life in the North Island region, including employment support programs tailored to the needs of newcomers, community engagement activities that build cross-cultural understanding, and partnerships that ensure access to essential services and opportunities.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
