The City of Courtenay is highlighting a new addition to city streets - a new pedestrian-controlled zebra crosswalk at Beachwood and South Island Highway.
It’s equipped with flashing beacons and has been installed in a 60 km/hr zone.
Additionally, the crosswalk has overhead LED lighting which the City says will provide better lighting at night, as well as an advanced warning flashing beacon 100m before the crosswalk to provide sufficient warning to drivers.
