Supportive housing at the Homewood site in Campbell River is expanding, with new modular units now on site.
The temporary housing site at 1299 Homewood Road was launched by the City of Campbell River in partnership with BC Housing and is operated by Lookout Housing and Health Society.
It has been providing shelter and support services to people experiencing homelessness since opening in 2024.
City officials say the arrival of the new modular units will add eight more housing spaces at the site, increasing total capacity to 48 units.
The additional spaces will allow more local residents to access safe shelter, meals, and health support in a stable and supportive environment.
The City says the expansion marks an important step in addressing homelessness in Campbell River, but acknowledges more work is needed.
Municipal leaders say they will continue to advocate to senior levels of government for additional housing resources, while also exploring opportunities to expand non-market and affordable housing options in the community.
