Campbell River Council has endorsed a new Community Safety and Well-Being Action Plan.
From housing and homelessness to public space revitalization and collaboration, the City says it will lead 17 impactful projects.
The Plan incorporates insights and feedback from the Strathcona Regional District and local First Nations, community partners, social service providers, law enforcement, and the public, which helped to create recommendations, actions and initiatives to enhance safety, sense of safety, and overall well-being within Campbell River.
Mayor Kermit Dahl says the plan is another initiative that will help further enhance safety - today and into the future. By aligning resources, focusing efforts and strategically advocating, he says they can maximize impact and realize positive change for residents and businesses.
The Action Plan identifies 39 of the most critical actions to be implemented over the next one to two years.
The City will lead 17 different projects and initiatives, some of which are already underway, including housing and homelessness, revitalization of public spaces, and collaboration between law enforcement and social services, among other priority areas.
A Community Safety Working Group will be established to support implementation of the actions outlined in the plan, coordinate the next steps, monitor progress and measure results.
