Multiple Events This Weekend For National Truth & Reconciliation Day

Organizations will take part in the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Saturday, to honour residential school survivors and the children who did not come home.

Various ceremonies and events throughout the region to mark the day on Saturday.

In Campbell River, the 8th Annual Every Child Matters Walk will begin at 11am at Spirit Square.

The Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex has minimized its operations for tomorrow and is offering free family events from 130pm to 430pm - a free public swim along with an everyone welcome skate and pond hockey.

The arena will remain open for all pre-booked user groups, but regular programming will be cancelled Saturday.

The Comox Valley Spirit Walk will be taking place between 11am-5pm at Simms Millennium Park.

A big night Friday for the Campbell River Storm.

Once again, the team will be sporting their orange uniforms as they suit up against the Westshore Wolves.

If you’re heading out tonight, the Storm are asking you to wear orange, if you can, and support the day.

The puck drops at 730pm.

Because September 30th falls on a Saturday, expect government officers and services to be closed on Monday.
