BC Ferries More cancelled crossings as BC Ferries continues to deal with a staff shortage, despite a recent hiring binge.

Crossings were cancelled this weekend between Mill Bay and Brentwood Bay following a similar situation the previous weekend.

On Friday, BC Ferries fired president and CEO Mark Collins.

Collins had been at the helm since 2017.

He's been replaced by BC Ferries Chief Financial Officer Jill Sharland, an interim basis, until a permanent replacement can be found.

BC Ferries says pre-pandemic, the service had about 150 employees booked off at any given time.

These days, that number has surged to 600 in some months.
