Trudeau announced he was stepping down in January once a successor is chosen.
There’s no word yet on when Carney will be sworn in as Prime Minister but it’s expected to happen within days. Trudeau will speak with Governor General Mary Simon who will then ask Carney to become Prime Minister and form the next government.
