A 37 year old man has been charged following an alleged forcible confinement.
Last Wednesday, February 19th, Campbell River RCMP responded to the 300-block of Westgate road in relation to the report that a person had been forcibly confined with a firearm.
The person managed to escape prior to police arrival and the suspect fled the scene.
Later the same day, the suspect was taken into custody at a nearby location.
During the investigation a search warrant was executed on a related residence and two firearms were seized.
Padan Cassidy Ashcroft has been charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats.
Ashcroft remains in custody.
