Eligible voters in Campbell River and the Comox Valley can now apply to cast their ballots by mail in the October 17 local government elections.

Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and Campbell River are all accepting applications for mail-ballot packages.

Voters must apply through the municipality where they are eligible to vote, follow the identification and ballot instructions provided, and return the completed package before the applicable deadline.

In Courtenay, applications are available online, and ballot packages can be mailed to voters or picked up at City Hall.

The City recommends applying by September 25 if the package needs to be sent by mail.

Comox has also set September 25 as its application deadline.

Cumberland residents have until 4:30 p.m. on October 9 to apply.

Campbell River voters can return completed ballots to City Hall until 4 p.m. on October 16.

Packages may also be delivered to the designated election official on general voting day.

Application deadlines and instructions for returning completed ballots vary between communities.

In most cases, ballots must reach the appropriate election office by 8 p.m. on October 17 to be counted.
