Two local Indigenous Organizations; MIKI’SIW Métis Association and the Indigenous Women’s Sharing Society are working together to host an awareness event for missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and two spirit + people.
They are encouraging those who want to participate and support to wear red next Friday, for the event at Simms Park in Courtenay.
Participation is encouraged by walking the red dress-lined route within the park, visiting educational tables, and attending traditional activities such as drumming and smudging circles.
Opening Ceremonies begin at 1 pm Friday, May 5 at Simms Park.
