The Strathcona Regional District is inviting residents of Cortes Island to a public meeting this afternoon for more in-depth discussion over changes to zoning bylaws.
The SRD began a process in 2017 to review and update bylaws that are in need of a refresh.
A zoning bylaw assigns regulations and zones to both land and water within a local government jurisdiction, such as Cortes Island, and specifies what kind of development and activities are permitted within each zone.
The meeting takes place Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Manson’s Hall, starting at 1pm.
A draft bylaw will soon be created for discussion and presentation to the Electoral Areas Services Committee and SRD Board.
