Lake Trail Community Education Society is making preparations for a big event next month, where you’ll be sure to find a few deals.
The Society will host a free Repair Café, free clothing swap and a community garage sale, providing residents the opportunity to get their items repaired, free of charge by volunteer experts, and to learn new skills in the process.
Plus, attendees will have the added opportunity to boost their wardrobe or sell items they no longer want.
It’s taking place on Saturday, November 15, at Lake Trail School from 11am to 3pm.
This is the fourth repair café hosted at Lake Trail, which organizers say has grown significantly.
Executive Director Anna Rambow says anyone can sell their items (from records or sports equipment to art, tools, etc.) for $20 per table, and it’s free for youth.
Over a dozen volunteer fixers will be on hand, ready to make repairs on clothing, textiles, sleeping bags, stuffed animals, wooden items, anything that needs gluing, plus small appliances and electronics like lamps, mixers, coffee makers - just about anything except phones and computers.
The clothing swap includes clothing from a variety of local thrift stores plus donations from the general public.
