Lake Trail Community Education Society is thanking the Comox Valley Community Foundation for responding with an early grant to support youth programs and community connections in West Courtenay.
The grant helps fill a funding gap that could have put programs at risk of cancellation this September.
Anna Rambow, the Society’s executive director, says by making a Community Enrichment Grant available early, the Foundation has significantly moved the needle on their funding gap. “We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
In July, the Society put out an urgent call to raise $50,000 to support programs and initiatives that support youth and connect the community.
The Foundation’s Community Enrichment Grants are awarded annually to eligible non-profit organizations who address many areas of considerable need in the Comox Valley.
Comox Valley Community Foundation Executive Director Jolean Finnerty says the society plays an essential role in building connection, learning, and wellness in West Courtenay, especially for youth and families.
The grant has helped reduce the Society’s unexpected shortfall.
Combined with $13,000 in community donations, the new fundraising goal is $18,750.
The Society is hosting a fundraising event on Tuesday, August 26, from 2pm to 8pm at Gladstone Brewing in Courtenay, with food, live music, a silent auction, and more.
