The Strathcona Regional District is looking for residents to help run this fall's local elections.

With General Local Election Day set for Saturday, October 17, the SRD is recruiting election officials to support voting and ballot counting throughout the region.

Positions include Presiding Election Officials, Alternate Presiding Election Officials, and Election Officials.

Chief Election Officer Edith Watson says it's a chance to get involved in the community, meet new people, and take part in the democratic process.

She says many election officials enjoy the experience so much they return for future elections.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a training session and take an oath of office before beginning their duties.

People with a financial or other interest in the outcome of the election are not eligible for the positions.
