Community members that are interested in a new facility aimed at supporting healthcare access in the Campbell River region will have several opportunities to take a look inside.
The Strathcona Regional District is offering informal drop-in tours of the new Just Like Home Lodge and Health Professionals Housing facility.
The facility, located next to Campbell River Hospital, is designed to address two different needs.
The Just Like Home Lodge provides accommodation for patients and their caregivers who have to travel to Campbell River to receive medical care.
The Health Professionals Housing program provides short- and long-term accommodation for healthcare professionals who are working, training, or relocating to the area.
The SRD says both programs are intended to help support healthcare access across the region.
Several drop-in tour dates are being offered.
Tours are available today from 9 to 11 a.m., and again from 2 to 4 p.m.
Additional opportunities are available Tuesday, September 8th, Wednesday, September 9th, and Thursday, September 10th, each from 1 to 4 p.m.
The tours are informal, and people will have a chance to see the facility and learn more about how the two programs will operate.
The SRD is asking people who plan to attend to RSVP by email.

The Just Like Home Lodge and Health Professionals Housing facility is part of broader efforts to support patients, families, and healthcare workers in the region, particularly as people travel to Campbell River for medical services and healthcare professionals come to the area to work or train.
