Monday, September 22, 2025 marks the official first day of autumn, with the fall equinox arriving at 11:19 a.m. PST.
That’s the moment when day and night are nearly equal in length, signaling the start of a new season.
In terms of the weather, forecasters say North and East Vancouver Island can expect a fall that offers a bit of everything.
The Weather Network’s seasonal outlook calls for a milder start, with temperatures through September and early October running near or slightly above seasonal.
But as we move deeper into October and November, Environment Canada says the pattern is expected to shift.
A strengthening El Niño will bring a wetter-than-normal second half of the season, with more frequent Pacific storm systems pushing across the Island.
That could mean heavier rainfall and gustier winds at times, especially along the east coast of the Island.
