Today is International Overdose & Drug Poisoning Awareness Day.

Events are happening across the Island, including at Spirit Square in Campbell River.

Gwen Donaldson, community action team coordinator for Campbell River, says 10 community members were lost to fatal drug poisoning in Campbell River in the first 4 months of 2022 and more than 10-thousand people have fatally overdosed in British Columbia since 2016.

Donaldson says the community is invited to this important event today, with education services, naloxone training, art & remembrance items & more.

The event runs from 11am-2pm at Spirit Square, it’s free to attend & everyone is welcome.
