Island Health has issued an Overdose Alert for Campbell River.
In a statement yesterday, the health authority says it has noticed an increase in surveillance data of overdoses occurring.
Regional harm Reduction Coordinator for Central Island, Jenn Diamond says drug users should also be aware that fentanyl can be found in many street drugs.
Island Health is asking everyone to help spread the word, while also informing those who are using, to not do so alone, and to ensure someone is available to call for help if needed; and, keep a naloxone kit handy - and know how to use it.
