Contractors in Courtenay will be installing a new traffic signal controller at the intersection of Island Highway and Vanier Drive/Veterans Memorial Parkway on Thursday.
Work will take place from 6am to 2pm.
While the work continues, the traffic lights will be turned off for several hours, with traffic control personnel on-site directing all commuters.
The City asks motorists to drive with care around the crews.
