An information session is taking place Thursday night for people considering running for office in this fall’s municipal elections.

The Comox Valley Regional District is holding a candidate information session, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the CVRD Civic Room.

It will also be available online through a Zoom webinar.

That session is aimed specifically at people considering running for Mayor, Councillor or Electoral Area Director.

Topics will include local government decision-making, the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, what to expect if elected and responsible conduct.

The 2026 local government elections take place Saturday, October 17. The nomination period opens September 1 and closes September 11.

The Town of Comox will also be holding a similar session later this month.
