Indigenous youth are being invited to take part in an opportunity this summer as the Indigenous Multi-Sport Summer Camp returns to Campbell River.
It’s running from July 10th to the 13th.
Open to Indigenous youth ages 7 and up, the camp is free to attend and will feature a variety of sports, including lacrosse, soccer, ice hockey, and swimming.
The camp is hosted in collaboration with Wei Wai Kum First Nation, the Strathcona Regional District, the City of Campbell River, and the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council.
Drop-off and pick-up locations will vary throughout the camp but will be held at Robron Field and Strathcona Gardens, with lunch provided each day.
Wei Wai Kum First Nation Chief Roberts says the partnership gives youth opportunities to stay active, learn new skills, and connect with others, saying it’s important for both their present and their future.
SRD Board Chair Mark Baker says the camp is more than just a chance to play sports - it’s about building confidence, community, and connection for Indigenous youth.
The initiative welcomes Indigenous youth living in Campbell River and those who can travel to attend.
Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
