You may have noticed a few more jets in the sky over the Comox Valley.

Crews from 4 Wing Cold Lake are conducting training until Monday, September 15, from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Comox and the surrounding areas.

They’ll fly between Comox, the west and east coasts of the island and the mainland, and you may spot CF-18’s operating in the area.

The CF-18 Hornet is the Royal Canadian Air Force’s frontline multi-role fighter, and is employed in many different roles, including air defense, air superiority and tactical support.

They’ll be conducting some VFR training and low level flying in the Comox Military Low Level Flying Area.

VFR training refers to flight instruction and practice focused on Visual Flight Rules, where pilots navigate visual references outside the cockpit.
