The Chief of Homalco First Nation says he’s honoured to be given the responsibility to lead for a fifth term.
Darren Blaney says he’s overwhelmed with the support and kindness from the community.
In a post to social media, Blaney said members will come together to move Homalco towards increasing wealth, growing its culture, healing, and focusing on development and education.
He says he knows Council will continue to work together and push themselves to do better.
Election day was Wednesday but members had been able to vote online since the beginning of October.
“Thank you to everyone who put their name forward to run. It is so important to participate, and I tried to shake everyone’s hand before they left last night (Wednesday),” Blaney said.
“I am so proud to represent our community and know our ancestors are guiding us to a positive future.”
