Highway 4 was closed again overnight - due to high winds as crews continue their work to clean up after the Cameron Lake Bluffs wildfire.

The highway was closed because of high winds shortly after 4pm yesterday and crews decided to keep it closed overnight.

The highway will see closures starting today for at least the next month as crews begin rock scaling on the hillside.

Closures will be in place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday to Friday until mid-August, with a two-hour opening to flush traffic daily between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

There will be no closures on weekends, including on the B.C. Day long weekend.

Outside of the closure periods, Highway 4 will continue to operate with single-lane-alternating traffic. The detour route will remain open for public use as well.

The highway was first closed on June 6th.

Drivers are reminded to obey all signage and traffic-control personnel as crews respond to the changing situation.
