BC Hydro is asking people to stay away from the high and dangerous flows along the Puntledge River through next week.
Crews increased discharge from the Comox Dam on Friday evening and expect to keep up with elevated flows through Tuesday, March 24.
The Comox Lake Reservoir was sitting at about 133.4 metres above sea level ahead of the weekend - water free-spills over the dam at 135.33 metres.
BC Hydro says the increased flows will provide a recreational opportunity for expert kayakers, but the wider public is advised to stay away from the river flow.
Temporary safety signage is in place along the river system highlighting the increased risk.
