Heat warnings are in place for East Vancouver Island, including Courtenay to Campbell River.
Temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius are expected through tomorrow, followed by a cooling trend on Wednesday.
Warnings are also in place for Inland Vancouver Island, Howe Sound, Whistler, and Pemberton.
Environment Canada says the risks of higher heat are greater for seniors, people who live alone, people with pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or respiratory disease, people with mental illness such as schizophrenia, depression, or anxiety, people with substance use disorders, and people with limited mobility.
If able, check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space.
