Health Canada has issued a recall notice for a handful of popular heat pump models.
The recall involves several Daikin, Amana and Goodman-branded heat pumps.
The recalled units can be identified through the model number located on the serial plate on the side of the unit.
A power interruption can result in the pump providing heat when power resumes, despite the thermostat being in cooling mode, posing a risk of excessive heat exposure to consumers.
To date, no injuries have been reported - in Canada or the U.S.
Some models may have already received a software update remotely but it’s best to check and not to use your heat pump unless, you are sure.
