Caremongering Campbell River, a grassroots group supporting more than 6,000 community members, is hosting its biannual fundraiser Thursday.
Founder Tara Jordan says they’re proud to serve as a lifeline for thousands of people in Campbell River but rely on the generosity of the community to help meet growing needs.
The fundraiser, happening at the Eagles Hall, includes live music, burgers and salads, a 50/50 draw, and dozens of silent auction items donated by local businesses and individuals.
Meal delivery is also available for those ordering take-out.
The group - which includes dozens of volunteers - began in March of 2020 with a goal to mobilize the community, at a grassroots level, to be able to help those in need with necessities, when and where possible.
Among other things, the group supports regular food bank deliveries, organizes and delivers free or affordably sourced used household items , occasional grocery shops, community kitchen meals or sharing extra food, and helping with birthdays for children in need.
Tickets for the Thursday fundraiser are $30 each, and 100% of proceeds go directly to supporting people in crisis with essentials like food, gas, diapers, and menstrual products.
Tickets can be purchased via e-transfer to donate@caremongeringcr.ca or in person from Tara Jordan at 674 Homewood Road.
