The free yard waste drop-off on Knight Road in Comox is wrapping up for the season this week.
For the last month, the Comox Valley FireSmart™ Resilience Committee has been hosting the drop-off program to help residents create more wildfire-resistant properties.
Thursday is the last day for the program - it will be open from 8am to 430pm.
Accepted materials include leaves, grass clippings, branches up to 3 inches in diameter, and plants.
Materials can be loose or in paper yard waste bags.
Items not accepted include food waste, plastic bags, rocks, concrete, root balls, and stumps.
Lieutenant Brent Craven with Comox Fire Rescue says by removing dry leaves, twigs, and branches from your yard and gutters, you can help protect your home and the community from wildfire damage.
