The Comox Valley Regional District, the Village of Cumberland and City of Courtenay are co-hosting a free information session tonight about becoming a candidate for office as a Mayor, Councilor, or Electoral Area Director in advance of local government elections.
The Comox Valley Regional District, the Village of Cumberland and City of Courtenay are co-hosting a free information session tonight about becoming a candidate for office as a Mayor, Councilor, or Electoral Area Director in advance of local government elections.
The session will cover a range of topics including decision making in local government, what to expect if elected, roles and responsibilities of elected officials, responsible conduct and other relevant topics for individuals interested in running for elected office.
The session, led by former Central Saanich Mayor and Councilor Allison Habkirk, is being hosted online via Zoom, from 6pm to 730pm Thursday, August 18th.

Staff from the regional district and each municipality will be available to provide information and answer questions.
Local government elections will take place on Saturday, October 15th.
The nomination period for candidates will open on August 30th and close September 9th.
