Comox Valley residents tackling their fall yard cleanup will once again have a free place to dispose of leaves, branches and other debris.

The Comox Valley FireSmart Collaborative is bringing back its Yard Debris Drop-Off Program beginning October 1, 2026.

Residents can bring leaves, grass clippings, plants and branches measuring up to three inches in diameter to 1301 Knight Road in Comox.

The site will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through November 15, weather permitting.

The FireSmart initiative is intended to help homeowners remove dry and combustible materials from around their properties.

Comox Fire Rescue says clearing leaves, twigs and branches from areas surrounding homes—and from roofs and gutters—is one of the simple steps residents can take to reduce wildfire risk.

The free program is available to residential users only. Food waste, plastic bags, rocks, concrete, stumps, root balls and invasive plants will not be accepted.

Returning participants should also note that the drop-off location has moved across the road from the site used previously.
