BC Hydro will be testing the Puntledge Hydroelectric System Operating Gates tomorrow that will result in higher and fluctuating releases from the Comox Dam, which may trigger the public warning system.
The testing is scheduled for tomorrow (Jan. 9) from 8am to 5pm.
During testing release from the Comox Dam will fluctuate from 20 cubic metres per second and may be as high as 90 m3/s.
Changes in the Puntledge River flows may activate sirens from the Puntledge Diversion Dam, just upstream of Barber’s Hole and Nymph Falls, down to Puntledge Park.
The public is being asked to stay away from all reaches of the river for the duration of the testing on Thursday.
Temporary safety awareness signage will be in place along the river.
