A new weekly summer event is set to bring more music, shopping, and activities to downtown Comox.

The Comox Business Improvement Association is launching Float Your Boat Fridays, running every Friday from July 3 through the end of August.

The event replaces the former one-day Summer Fest celebration with a weekly series featuring live music, the Marina Park Market, local businesses, and family-friendly activities throughout the downtown and waterfront.

Free concerts will be held each Friday afternoon, with a lineup of local and visiting performers, including a special appearance by children's entertainer Fred Penner later this month.

Float Your Boat Fridays will run from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday through August 28.
