A flag-raising will take place this morning in Campbell River to mark Francophonie Month.
For the second consecutive year, a BC Francophone flag-raising will take place in Campbell River to mark Francophonie Month.
Students from école Mer-et-Montagne, the Public Francophone school in Campbell River, will attend the event, along with members of council.
March is Francophonie Month, a worldwide celebration of the French language, culture, and the contributions of Francophones to Canadian society, and a reminder that French is one of Canada’s two official languages.
Monday’s flag-raising highlights the presence and contributions of Francophones in the community and underscores the importance of visibility for Francophone communities in a minority-language context such as British Columbia.
The event is happening this morning at 10.30am at Spirit Square.
