Firefighters remain on the scene of a fire at Campbell River’s Carihi.
School District 72 has announced that the school will be closed today as a result.
The School Board, in a notice online, thanked the Campbell River Fire Department for their work to contain the fire and ensuring everyone's safety.
It says it will have further updates as they become available.
Social media reports indicate that flames were visible through the roof of the gym overnight.
The Campbell River Fire Department was receiving assistance from other nearby crews.
No word yet on a cause or how long the school will be closed, but it appears damage is extensive, at least to the gym area.
