British Columbians now know who will appear on their ballots in the October 24 provincial election.
Candidate nominations closed at 1 p.m. Saturday, with Elections BC confirming 355 candidates across the province’s 93 electoral districts.
Of those, 340 are representing ten registered political parties.
Another seven candidates are running as independents, while eight are listed as unaffiliated.
The Conservative Party is the only party fielding candidates in all 93 ridings.
The B.C. NDP has 92 candidates, followed by the B.C. Green Party with 73.
Centre BC is running 35 candidates and the OneBC Party has 33.
The remaining parties include the Communist Party of BC and Libertarian Party with four candidates each, the Christian Heritage Party of B.C. with three, CanWest with two and the Freedom Party of BC with one.
The overall field is larger than it was during the 2024 provincial election, when 322 candidates ran across British Columbia.
Elections BC says candidates who have formally registered as independent will have the word “Independent” printed beside their names on the ballot.
Unaffiliated candidates, who are not endorsed by a party and have not registered as independent, will appear with only their name.
Advance voting will be available from Friday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 21.
Voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., although voters are encouraged to check which advance locations are operating in their electoral district.
Final Voting Day is Saturday, October 24, with polls open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Voters will have an assigned voting place that day.
Vote-by-mail packages can also be requested online, by phone or at a district electoral office.
Completed packages must be received by Elections BC before 8 p.m. on Final Voting Day to be counted.
The complete candidate list, including those running in Vancouver Island electoral districts, along with voting locations and mail-ballot information, is available at Elections BC.
