The City of Campbell River will be making improvements to three traffic lights on Highway 19A through Willow Point, at the Hilchey Road, Discovery Foods and Erickson Road intersections.
Minor traffic delays are expected during the work, which is happening today.
When the work is completed, the traffic lights will no longer be coordinated to hold the green lights in one direction.
The City says removing the signal coordination will make the lights change over to green on the side streets faster.
This will reduce the wait for a green light for traffic on the side streets and improve overall traffic flow.
At the Discovery Foods intersection, the left turn arrows out of both the Discovery Foods side and the Willows Market side onto the highway will be removed.
The left turn arrows from the highway into the malls will remain.
The City says the changes should improve traffic operations and flow.
