Cumberland has officially welcomed a new way to get around town.
The Village hosted a launch event Tuesday for its new partnership with the Evolve E-Bike and E-Scooter Share program.
A crowd gathered in Village Square to hear a few words from Mayor Vickey Brown and get a look at the e-bikes now available in the community.
Attendees also got a preview of Evolve’s e-scooters, which are expected to roll out soon.
Test rides were offered on both types of devices.
Once the scooters launch, they’ll include built-in “Speed Smart” controls, which automatically slow down the ride in designated areas, meant to help keep things safe for riders and everyone else on the road.
To sign up for the program, you’ll need to be 18 or older, provide your contact information, and have a valid credit card.
