The City of Campbell River is taking a key step forward on the Erickson Road Renewal Project, with a construction tender now posted for major underground utility upgrades.

The project will replace aging water and stormwater infrastructure that has reached the end of its serviceable life, improving long-term reliability for residents and businesses that rely on the system.

City officials say the work is a critical investment in core infrastructure and an important milestone for the project.

Construction will take place along Erickson Road between the Larwood Creek crossing and just west of Nature Park Drive.

The first phase will focus on replacing underground utilities, followed by restoring the roadway to its current condition.

Sidewalk infill is also planned in sections where sidewalks do not currently exist.

The City says it is also actively pursuing grant funding that could support additional surface improvements in future phases.

Those upgrades could include new sidewalks, a multi-use path, curbs, and improved lighting.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and continue for approximately 9 to 12 months.

During that time, commuters and nearby residents should expect single lane alternating traffic through the construction zone.

The City of Campbell River says it will continue to provide updates on traffic impacts, timelines, and local effects as more details become available.
