There will be intermittent, rotating parking lot closures affecting pedestrian and vehicle access to Baikie Island today through Tuesday, October 15th.
The closures are to facilitate several environmental projects that will be taking place in and around Baikie Island and the Raven Trail, which will also be closed intermittently during this time. Access to Baikie Island will also be restricted.
The environmental work will include relocating the parking lot, upgrading trails, restoration work, removing invasive plants and planting native plants.
The City of Campbell River is working with the Rotary Club of Campbell River, Greenways Land Trust, Wei Wai Kum First Nation, BC Hydro and the Campbellton Neighbourhood Association.
Residents and visitors are being asked to follow all signage and traffic controls in place and avoid visiting Baikie Island and using trails when requested to do so.
