BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District are advising customers of potential delays due to construction near the Downtown Courtenay Exchange, beginning Monday.
The City of Courtenay will be upgrading the intersection of 5th Street and Cliffe Avenue to improve safety, accessibility and traffic flow.
This intersection will be closed Sunday to Friday from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. during the construction period.
As a result, buses will not serve the Downtown Courtenay Exchange on Cliffe Avenue and other bus stops in the downtown core, even when the intersection is open.
Detours will be in place during construction.
Bus stops that are closed will have signage posted to indicate the next nearest bus stop.
Riders should expect extra travel time, especially through Downtown Courtenay near the exchange.
This construction is expected to last up to eight weeks and is weather dependent.
