Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

Parton died peacefully Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Her publicist says she had been facing a brief battle with cancer. 

Parton rose from humble beginnings in rural Tennessee to become one of the biggest stars in music history.

Her career spanned more than 6 decades, with hundreds of songs, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Parton was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and won 11 Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Her impact extended well beyond entertainment.

Parton’s Imagination Library has provided hundreds of millions of books to children, while she also donated $1-million toward COVID-19 vaccine research.
