The d'Esterre Seniors' Centre Association is celebrating a major milestone this weekend.
The organization marks its 50th anniversary with a free community celebration on Saturday.
The Centre officially opened its permanent Beaufort Avenue location in 1976 after local seniors spent several years working to establish a dedicated gathering place in Comox.
Association President Myrna Holman says the anniversary honours the volunteers and members whose contributions have made the Centre an important part of the community for generations.
The celebration runs from 4 until 8 p.m. tomorrow at the gazebo beside the Centre in Comox Marina Park.
The family-friendly event includes live music, a beer garden, food vendors, face painting and children's games.
