The Comox Valley Regional District’s draft of its 10-Year Tourism Strategic Framework is now available for public review and feedback.
The document will guide the sustainable development of tourism in the Comox Valley for the next decade.
Since the launch of the tourism strategy planning process, Experience Comox Valley, the CVRD’s Tourism Service, has been working with 4EVER
Strategies to engage with residents, businesses, community organizations, rights-holders and local government to design a strategy that aligns with community values, environmental sustainability, economic growth, and cultural preservation.
Chair of the Comox Valley Tourism Advisory Committee, David Rooper, says community participation has been the cornerstone of the process.
He says community input will ensure the strategy is robust, reflective of their collective vision, and poised to create a dynamic future and weather future challenges.
The CVRD says the draft framework provides a clear roadmap for sustainable tourism development, balancing economic growth with environmental preservation and social well-being for the region. It addresses areas such as destination management, sector growth, visitor experience, and community interest.
