The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Board has received a donation of 40 acres (16 hectares) of oceanfront property in the Merville area for use as a park.
“This is an incredibly kind donation that will benefit so many Comox Valley residents and visitors for years to come,” explains Electoral Area C Director Edwin Grieve.
“The CVRD would like to thank Christopher Investments Ltd for this very generous gift.”
Last spring, the CVRD Board authorized staff to work with the donor, Christopher Investments Ltd., to receive land through the federal government’s Ecological Gifts Program.
The program provides a way for owners of ecologically sensitive land to protect nature and leave a legacy for future generations.
The donation was finalized in September of last year.
